In an all-too-familiar sight, the grey skies in Queenstown finally followed through with their threat and the rain ruined another Ford Trophy clash.
The ACES managed to get out on the park for just 4.1 overs yesterday, enough time to score 12/0 before the rain arrived and never relented.
Taking momentum into this match with a hard-fought win against top-of-the-table Central Stags on Thursday, the ACES would have hoped for some level of revenge on the Otago Volts, who beat them in November in the ACES’ first full Ford Trophy outing for the season.
The no result means the ACES sit in last place on the table with one win, four loses and two washouts in their seven fixtures so far.
They will now turn their attention to the shortest format when the Dream11 Super Smash kicks off 0n Friday. The first match for the ACES is in Christchurch against Canterbury Kings on Boxing Day.
